Wedding photographers in Spain

Palace courtyards, orange trees and late evenings — in a city where the summer heat decides the shape of the day.
Couples marry in Seville for the old city: the tiled courtyards of the Real Alcázar, the white lanes of Santa Cruz, the river with Triana across it. These places sit close together, so a wedding here can be one ceremony, one walk and one dinner, with no coach in between.
The day runs later than most couples from abroad expect. From June to September the ceremony moves to the evening, portraits wait for the last sun — after 21:00 in midsummer — and dinner starts after dark. In spring and autumn the light goes earlier, and an afternoon ceremony in a garden is comfortable.
Photographers
They shoot everywhere in Andalusia — in Seville too. Their whole weddings are on their pages.

The plateresque city hall, between the Plaza Nueva and the Plaza de San Francisco, holds civil weddings in the Salón Colón, its council chamber. The city’s Protocol Service books it once your marriage file has been approved.
The Cathedral marries couples before its Virgen de los Reyes on Friday and Saturday evenings, booked by email up to a year ahead; during building works the weddings have moved elsewhere in the cathedral, so ask where. El Salvador holds weddings on Fridays and Saturdays at 18:00, after a meeting with its rector.
Hotel Alfonso XIII opened in 1928 with a royal wedding banquet and still hosts weddings, in its gardens and courtyard. In a Seville summer, shade and deep galleries are worth more than a view.
Old olive estates with whitewashed courtyards, arcades and room to dance outside. Hacienda de San Rafael, south of the city at Las Cabezas de San Juan, is one that hosts weddings. Book coaches both ways: the party ends late.

Portraits
A wedding session needs the Alcázar’s permit, asked a month ahead: one hour in the visitor areas, five people at most counting your photographers, in through the Patio de Banderas. It opens at 09:30 — take the first hour, before the heat and the crowds.
The brick-and-tile half-circle built for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition in María Luisa Park, with its canal, four bridges and a tiled alcove for each province. Nearly empty at sunrise, full by mid-morning.
The old Jewish quarter beside the Alcázar: the Callejón del Agua, named for the water it carried to the palace, and the Callejón de la Judería, which leads to the Patio de Banderas. White walls bounce light into the lanes, so there is soft shade even at midday.
From the Triana bank, the evening sun lights the far side: the Torre del Oro, the Almohad tower of 1220–21, and upstream the iron Triana bridge of 1852. Golden hour on 15 June 2027 runs from about 21:07 to 22:05; on 15 October, from 19:12 to 20:03.
Through the year
May (27.2 °C average high) and October (26.0 °C) are the easy months, and April is milder still. Summer is a real planning issue: AEMET’s 1981–2010 normals for Seville airport give average highs of 32.2 °C in June, 36.0 °C in July, 35.5 °C in August and 31.7 °C in September, with nights around 20 °C. June to August is almost dry; rain peaks in November and December. Holy Week (21–28 March in 2027) and the April Fair, which usually starts about two weeks after Easter, fill the hotels.

Practical
The airport is about 10 km east of the centre; its bus takes around 40 minutes and stops at Santa Justa, the high-speed station. Lodge guests in the old town and the whole day can be walked; coaches are only for a hacienda.
From June to September keep everything outdoors for the evening: the sun sets at 21:46 on 15 June and 21:17 on 15 August, so a ceremony at 20:00 leaves time for portraits in the last light. Put water and fans on the guests’ chairs.
A drone over the city is an urban flight: a registered operator must notify the Ministry of the Interior at least five days ahead (Real Decreto 517/2024).
A civil wedding needs one of you to live in Spain, where the marriage file is opened; a Catholic one goes through your home parish; most couples from abroad marry at home and hold a symbolic ceremony here.
Questions
It is very hot: average highs are 35.5 °C in August and 36.0 °C in July (AEMET), and nights stay near 20 °C. It works with a ceremony after 19:30, portraits in the last light and dinner after dark — but May and October are far gentler.
Yes, with the Alcázar’s permit, requested at least a month ahead: an hour in the visitor areas for up to five people, photographers included. It is paid, unless one of you was born in or lives in Seville.
Not for hand-held portraits with no set-up, nothing cordoned off and no one blocked — but Seville’s filming bylaw asks for the shoot to be notified to the city’s promotion office, APPES. Anything with installations needs a filming licence.
Holy Week runs from Palm Sunday, 21 March, to Easter Sunday, 28 March 2027; the six-day Fair usually begins about two weeks after Easter. Both are wonderful to see and hard for rooms, so check the city’s calendar before you fix a spring date.
