What a wedding photographer costs in Greece, from Athens to the islands

Published prices for a wedding photographer in Greece run from €500 for two hours to €9,000 for a full day. The figures with sources and dates, by length of day and island by island, what moves the price — ferries, the meltemi, ΦΠΑ — and how paying works on Lens & Vows.

In short

  • Published prices for a full wedding day in Greece run from €1,400 for 8 hours on one Santorini team’s list to €6,000–€9,000 for the most sought-after on Santorini and Mykonos (October 2026); a 2025 survey of six photographers in Greece put a basic package of up to 10 hours at about €1,800.
  • Two to four hours for an elopement cost €500–€900 in Greek photographers’ own price lists and €800–€2,000 in two guides for couples from abroad (2025–2026).
  • Santorini and Mykonos cost most: Tov Studio says their venues can lift Greece-based photographers from €3,500–€7,500 to €6,000–€9,000 for a full day, while ten Athens studios on a Greek directory start at €700–€2,000.
  • Greece’s standard VAT, ΦΠΑ, is 24%: €2,000 “+ ΦΠΑ” comes to €2,480, while a photographer with turnover under €10,000 a year can be exempt and charge none.
  • On Lens & Vows every photographer sets their own price and you pay that price: a 30% deposit when they accept, and the balance straight to them or through us, in up to 3 instalments with an optional 5% payment-protection fee.

Every photographer on Lens & Vows sets their own price, and the same photographer may charge differently for a two-hour sunrise elopement in April and a full Saturday in September — so no single figure is “the price”. What exists are the prices Greek photographers, directories and guides publish. Here they are with sources and dates, then what a price is made of. Every figure is someone’s published number; a range we give is the span of those numbers, never our own average.

In short, the price follows time, people (one photographer or two), the islands — ferries, nights, a spare day for the wind — when you marry, and tax. For scale, EasyWedding, a Greek wedding directory, puts an intimate Santorini wedding of up to 20 guests at €20,000–€30,000, €2,500–€5,000 of it for photography and video (April 2026).

Read it as two markets. Greek couples’ weddings, mostly in church in the Orthodox rite, are photographed by local studios, and the figures nearest to them — the survey, the Athens starting prices — sit low. Destination weddings, photographed in English for couples from abroad, run €1,500–€7,500 for a full day in the guides above, and up to €9,000 on the famous islands.

A short wedding, a half day or a full day

Greek price lists are mostly built on hours, so length is the clearest way to compare. As of October 2026:

CoverageIn photographers’ price listsIn guides
Short, 1–4 hours: an elopement or the town hallCorfu: 2 hours €500 (Evgenii K.). Santorini: 4 hours €800 (Santophoto). Crete: 4 hours from €900 before tax (Konstantinos Visuals)2–3 hours €800–€1,500 (BigFatGreekDay); 2–4 hours €1,000–€2,000 (Love Stories in Greece)

Several days—€4,000–€10,000 (Love Stories in Greece)

The gap is widest at the top: a full day on Santorini costs €1,400 (8 hours) on one team’s list, €2,500–€6,500 by another photographer’s reckoning (Vasilis L.). Ask what each quote includes.

Does the island change the price?

Yes, mostly through demand and travel. No Greek source we found prints what couples paid by region, so here are photographers’ lists and guides’ ranges — their authors’ view, not a census. EasyWedding’s are for elopement photography, at 2024–2025 rates.

Some photographers charge the same everywhere: Santophoto’s packages hold from Athens to Corfu and Rhodes. For Naxos, Milos and the Peloponnese we found no published figure; ask for travel to be itemised.

What the price is made of

Hours, and the hours you don’t see

Every hour of shooting means desk work after: backing up, choosing, editing. Greek lists promise at least 600 photos for 8 hours (Santophoto) or 800–1,000 (Evgenii K.), delivered in 8–10 weeks (Santophoto). An extra hour costs €100 (Konstantinos Visuals) or €200 (Evgenii K.). See how many hours you need.

One photographer or two

A second photographer covers both of you getting ready, the ceremony from two angles and the guests during portraits. Santophoto adds one for €400 and includes one at 12 hours. On Santorini, Tov Studio notes, a cliff-edge sunset ceremony leaves a tight 90-minute window that often calls for a second shooter. Do you need a second photographer?

Ferries, flights and a spare day for the wind

A photographer from elsewhere has to reach your island, and often stay. Blue Star Ferries’ fastest crossings from Piraeus take 4 hours 10 minutes to Paros, 5 hours 10 to Mykonos and 6 hours 6 to Santorini. The meltemi, the Aegean’s dry north wind, blows from about mid-May to mid-September, strongest in July and August, and can keep ferries in port, so BigFatGreekDay advises never planning a same-day ferry arrival. That can mean another night at high-season prices — four caldera nights on Santorini cost €2,400 in August and €1,500 in October in its example. Ask how travel is charged: by location (Konstantinos Visuals), as costs you cover (Evgenii K.) or in one price (Santophoto). A local photographer or one you fly in?

Season, sunrise and the day after

Greece’s season is the most concentrated of the countries we compare: 41.6% of its 2025 tourist nights fell in July and August (Eurostat). Vasilis L. advises booking 12–18 months ahead for May–October, June and September above all. In BigFatGreekDay’s Santorini example photography costs €2,500 in August and €2,200 in October; none of the Greek lists we found prices weekdays differently, so ask. On Santorini the sun sets at 20:39 on 21 June (US Naval Observatory) and most eloping couples there choose a sunrise or sunset ceremony (EasyWedding), so the day starts early or ends late. Many lists offer a session the day after: two hours are in Santophoto’s 12-hour package; Evgenii K. charges €400 for up to 1.5 hours, before or after. More in the best time to marry in Greece.

Archaeological sites

Professional photography at a Greek archaeological site needs a licence from the competent Ephorate of Antiquities beforehand, and a fee set by the kind of shoot (a 2005 Ministerial Decision). We found no current fee schedule; a photographer who works there will know the process. The wedding’s legal side is in getting married in Greece.

What you take home

  • An online gallery is the usual deliverable; ask how many photos and for how long. Some never hand over RAW files (Santophoto); Evgenii K. charges €500 for them.
  • An album is in none of the lists above; Konstantinos Visuals makes one on request. Ask size, pages and price.
  • Video is a second price: 5 hours from €1,100 (Konstantinos Visuals); €1,200–€2,500 on Santorini and Corfu, €1,800–€4,000+ for a full day on Mykonos (BigFatGreekDay). See photographer, videographer or both.
  • Film photography sits in premium packages, Vasilis L. says.
  • Drones: EU rules bar small drones from flying over an assembly of people, and near airports and archaeological sites a flight usually needs the Hellenic Civil Aviation Authority’s approval, asked at least five days ahead, or is banned.

ΦΠΑ: is VAT included?

Ask every time. Greece’s standard VAT, ΦΠΑ, is 24% (VAT Code, art. 26). A quote may say “με ΦΠΑ” (VAT included) or “+ ΦΠΑ” (plus VAT): €2,000 + ΦΠΑ is €2,480. Evgenii K.’s wedding prices include it, Konstantinos Visuals’ exclude “applicable taxes”, Santophoto’s don’t say. A photographer with turnover under €10,000 a year can use the small-business exemption and charge none (art. 44α). On the smaller Dodecanese and North Aegean islands, of up to 20,000 people, rates are cut by 30%: a photographer established and working there charges 17% (art. 26, as in force in October 2026). Compare final prices.

How to compare quotes fairly

Compare quotes only once they describe the same day:

  • The same hours — and, on an island, the same days.
  • The same deliverables: gallery, RAW files, album, next-day session, video, drone.
  • How many photos, and the delivery time.
  • Travel: ferries or flights, nights, a spare day — included, itemised or yours to book.
  • A second photographer, if only one quote has one.
  • Overtime, and tax: “με ΦΠΑ”, “+ ΦΠΑ” (add 24%) or none.

Then ask to see whole weddings. How to choose a wedding photographer goes step by step, and the contract checklist covers what to get in writing.

Red flags

  • No written contract, or one without the date, hours, deliverables, travel or tax.
  • Only highlights — not one whole wedding to show.
  • Pressure to pay everything up front, off the platform. On Lens & Vows the deposit is always paid through us, and contact details are shared once it is paid. If someone asks otherwise, tell us.
  • A price that moves after you agreed it — including ΦΠΑ that appears only on the invoice.

How paying works on Lens & Vows

You pay the photographer’s own price. When they accept your request, you pay a 30% deposit through us (card, Apple Pay, Google Pay, or MB WAY in euros), which holds the date; our commission comes out of that deposit, never on top. The balance is your choice: straight to the photographer — bank transfer, cash, their usual terms — with no fee from us; or by card through us, in up to 3 instalments, plus a 5% payment-protection fee shown up front. Paid through us, the balance reaches the photographer only after you accept your gallery. The details, including what happens if either side cancels, are on payment protection and in how deposits and payment protection work.

Questions couples ask

How much does a wedding photographer cost in Greece?

As of October 2026, published prices for a full day run from €1,400 for 8 hours on one Santorini team’s list to €6,000–€9,000 for the most sought-after on Santorini and Mykonos; a 2025 survey of six photographers in Greece put a basic package of up to 10 hours at about €1,800. Compare quotes for the same hours, travel and deliverables, and check the ΦΠΑ.

How much does a Santorini elopement photographer cost?

One Santorini team lists 4 hours at €800 (October 2026); EasyWedding, a Greek directory, puts elopement photography there at €800–€1,500 (2024–2025 rates). Packages that add a venue, a celebrant and dinner cost €3,000–€8,000 (EasyWedding).

Is a wedding photographer cheaper in Athens than on the islands?

Usually. Ten Athens studios on EasyWedding start at €700–€2,000 (October 2026); guides put a full day on Santorini at €1,500–€6,500, and the most sought-after there and on Mykonos at €6,000–€9,000. An island also adds ferries or flights, and often a night.

Do Greek wedding photographers’ prices include VAT?

Not always. The standard rate, ΦΠΑ, is 24%, so €2,000 “+ ΦΠΑ” is €2,480. A photographer with turnover under €10,000 a year can be exempt and charge none. Ask whether each quote is “με ΦΠΑ”, VAT included.

How far ahead should we book a wedding photographer in Greece?

A Greek photographer’s 2026 guide advises 12–18 months for May to October, June and September above all: a photographer can be at only one wedding a day, and 41.6% of Greece’s 2025 tourist nights fell in July and August (Eurostat).

How much deposit do we pay a wedding photographer?

It depends on the photographer’s contract. On Lens & Vows it is always 30% of the photographer’s price, paid through us when they accept, and it holds the date; the balance goes straight to the photographer or through us, in up to 3 instalments with an optional 5% payment-protection fee.
